The Spirit of the Sagauro opening exhibition at the Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix included a family workshop:  The Spirit of the Saguaro: A Mindful Photography Experience for Youth with Artist Holly Metz on Sunday, September 28, 2008.

"This workshop is intended for children ages 7 and up with an accompanying adult. The workshop is designed to use the breath to find stillness, increasing our awareness of the natural world around us, and fostering a deeper connection with our desert home. Participants are encouraged to bring a camera (disposable are fine!) in order to express the inexpressible - the images they see with both their eyes and hearts. In the gallery, Holly will share her experiences and philosophies while photographing for the exhibit, followed by a gathering on Garden grounds to practice present-moment awareness and mindful creativity."

The Spirit of the Saguaro exhibition will, in future, include an Educational Guide with discussion questions and mindful photography exercises.
